The salvage tug Caribic was built by the Bremerhaven shipyard Sieghold and put into service by the Hamburg-based Bugsier Reederei und Bergungs-AG in early 1978. The ship was used for salvage operations worldwide and was berthed outside these operations in the port of La Coruña in Spain.
