  • Construction plan insert FMT 05/2024 to 07/2024

What is extreme about the Thermy XT? Wing geometry, wing depth, strength, robustness, agility, handling, speed range, fun to fly!

The structure of the wing with plywood rib comb and spars is very strong, as is the main joiner with two 8 mm steel spars in different lengths. This enables a well graded force transmission with moderate weight. The flaps and ailerons are built in directly, are planked on both sides and reinforced with spars, resulting in very stable control surfaces. The control surfaces are large enough to achieve good agility and the flaps have a powerful effect during landing. The lever arms and the overall geometry enable very pleasant handling.

The XT is very versatile, from a thermal glider to a fast all-rounder, it can do it all.

The insert construction plan was published in FMT 05/2024 to 07/2024.

The printed construction plan is supplied by the publisher (in contrast to the insert construction plan) printed on one side on white paper. The delivery includes a building description.

How do I set the control surfaces?

The following values make sense for the first flight: elevator +- 25 mm, rudder +- 55 mm, flaps 2 mm up/ 55 mm down, ailerons 45 mm up/ 38 mm down, landing ailerons 30 mm up/ flaps 55 mm down/ mix in 5 mm depth. In each case measured at the largest point at the end of the control surface flaps.

For maximum flying fun, increase as follows: Elevator +- 45 mm (additional 50% expo), rudder +- 80 mm (additional 30% expo), ailerons 55 mm up/ 45 mm down (additional 30% expo), flaps 2 mm up/ almost vertically down, landing ailerons 45 mm up/ flaps almost vertically down/ mix in 8 mm depth. For the butterfly function, we recommend a slider for stepless control.
