Secret
Luftwaffe projects have always fascinated Raimund Sonst. He built some of them
as models between 2000 and 2023. One of the models that flies very well is the
Arado E.555-1. This version has a wingspan of 1,770 mm and is powered by three
69 mm WeMoTec impellers. The body is made of wood with polystyrene-covered
wings.
The
model of the Arado E.555-1 is very good-natured and a feast for the eyes and
ears. The author of the construction plan nevertheless recommends using a gyro
on aileron and elevator, because the model tails a little around the vertical
axis and the gyro almost eliminates this behavior. The slight wagging around
the vertical axis is due to the V-shape, but this is exactly what gives the
Arado E.555-1 its beautiful flying appearance. Landings with the Arado are
child's play - the model floats in to the landing like a glider.
