Construction plan Snark
- Construction: Jochen Zimmermann
- Based on Dick Twomey's A2 free flight glider Snark from the 1950s
- Retro slope glider
Jochen Zimmermann became aware of
the Snark model by chance when he saw a remote-controlled replica flying on a
slope. He was spontaneously impressed by the unusual shape and so the decision
was made to redevelop the model in a slightly larger size and to give it a
special extra. The aim of the design was to increase performance through modern
profiling and to implant a drive into the model while maintaining the striking
appearance. After extensive considerations and preliminary tests, an EDF that
folds out to the side has proven to be suitable for everyday use. This turns
the glider into a motor glider, the drive of which disappears completely into
the hull once the work is done and can fold out again if the thermals subside.
The enclosed construction plan was
published in FMT 02+03/2024.
The construction plan print is
supplied by the publisher (in contrast to the supplement construction plan)
printed on one side and undivided in 1:1 on white paper. The delivery includes
the building description.
