Construction plan Mill-Engine
- Construction: A. Neumann
- The plan is in German. A translation aid is available here
This "Mill Engine" is a
double -acting single -cylinder steam engine. At the end of the 18th century,
these machines were increasingly used in workshops, factories and mills. In the
textile industry, these steam engines were used to drive textile machines using
transmissions.
Cylinders, slide control and
warehousebocks of the model are made of brass. The machine bed and the bearing
base are made of aluminum. The flywheel is made of round steel.
The most demanding part is the
cylinder with its steam holes. It has to be worked extremely precisely. The
machine was created using a turning and milling bench. Screws and bolts have
been manufactured themselves. The screws with a hexagon head were turned from
hexagonal material. The waves used are made of 2- and 6 mm silver steel.
