- Construction plan introduction FMT 05/2025
The impressive design of the Horten H.XVIII dates back
to 1945 and was to be powered by six Junkers Jumo 004 jet turbines. Raimund Sonst modelled the
H.XVIII on a scale of 1:14 and drew a construction plan. With a wingspan of
3.07 metres, his Horten is equipped with six 50 mm electric ducted fans. The
design of the model was calculated using Multhopp's wing line theory, extended
by the arrow wing theory of Prof Boris Laschka. The wing design of the H.XVIII
produces a model that flies well.
The model consists of divisible wings, with the centre section accommodating the six ducted fans. The wings are built in a slipway, which is part of the construction drawing, to ensure that the angles of incidence are precisely maintained.
The construction plan print, printed on one side on white paper from the publisher, comprises five sheets 900×1,800 - 2,500 mm. The delivery includes building instructions. The construction description includes a download package with 240 construction stage illustrations.
