The basic design of the Half-Beam "Grasshopper" was made by the US-American Elmer Verburg, but here it was redesigned for metric dimensions.
The Grasshopper is a half-beam steam engine. It was developed by the American Oliver Evans in 1807. The half-beam, or "grasshopper steam engine", uses a beam mounted at one end instead of a beam mounted centrally on a column.
