The steam-powered former police barge Otto Lauffer faced an uncertain future for years. It is known to modelers mainly through the Graupner kit. This came on the market in 2003 and unfortunately disappeared from the program in 2011. In contrast, the original still exists today, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Hamburg Museumshafen Oevelgönne. The association saved the Otto Lauffer from being scrapped and had her refurbished by the Hitzler shipyards in Lauenburg. In July 2016, the refurbished Otto Lauffer was presented to the public. Since then, Hamburg's longest-serving museum steamer has been making trips for up to 20 guests between March and October. Especially popular are the trips to the Harbour Birthday, as well as to the Cruise Days.
