Construction plan Seagoing tugs Baltic
- Construction: Günter Bildstein
- Ocean-going salvage tug
The Baltic is an
ocean-going tugboat that is used for rescue and salvage operations. The ship is
operated by Fairplay Schleppdampfschiffs-Reederei Richard Borchard GmbH and has
its home port in Hamburg. The 61.36 meter long, 15 meter wide ship, chartered
by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS),
is permanently moored off Kühlungsborn and only returns to Warnemünde every two
weeks to refuel and change crew.
The construction
of the ship is designed for extreme conditions and enables the Baltic to
operate even in the stormiest waters. Equipped with the latest navigation and
communication systems as well as highly specialized salvage equipment, she can
handle shipwrecks of all kinds.
The tug's range of operations is diverse. Its tasks range from salvaging damaged ships to supporting offshore operations. Her crew consists of experienced seamen and technicians who can act quickly and professionally in emergency situations.
